Article Marketing - Get 2 to 5 Times the Visitors from an 800 Plus Word Article? Really Easy!

I like to read articles. I guess I am not the only one I say with a smile, since I guess that is the point of article directories. Sometimes I am very impressed by the depth and quality of an article. When I read one of these, I usually feel inspired to step up my game a little when writing my articles.

The problem with this is that as soon as I try to go a little deeper with one of my articles, they start to get longer and longer. This is bad for two reasons. Longer articles don't get read any more, if anything, they get read less. Second, I am getting less return on my investment of time.

Let me explain, if it takes me 30 to 45 min to write an article, that time is my investment for the number of visitors that I hope to inspire to come to my site. If I spend 1 hour or even more, and I get the same results, then that is not as good of an investment of my time.

You might say, well I like writing more in-depth articles and I don't care if I have to put a little more time into each one. The truth is you should like writing better and more in-depth content. This is how you will share your expertise with the world. The place for that content is on your website.

It is important to remember the role of each step of the process. And the role of the article is an appetizer. Not some cheap filler food, or a nibble, but a good healthy quality appetizer. But afterwards, you want the reader to be so impressed, that they want to go to your site and get the full meal.

So, how do you get the greatest return on your investment when an article does get a little long? Article sets. Turn your article into two or more articles. You can even turn them into parts if you need to add on a little more information. But, if you build multiple articles, you will get more visitors for the effort, and you will be giving your readers the size bites they have shown us they like to read.

Article Marketing Mastery - Come Let me Teach You Why Teaching Others is So Important

You hear it all the time. Write down your goals. If you write down your goals, something magical happens and they come true. I want to take that one step further. What if you make your goal writing? I learned one thing in the Marines that has stuck with me ever since.

I was selected for, and then studied and passed the certification process for *low power* and *high power* turn up licenses.

What this means, is I could jump in the cockpit of an F-4 Phantom Fighter Jet and with the *low power,* I could start and run the jet engines up to 80%. With the *high power,* I could run the jet engine to their top end which was when the after burners would kick in and 10 feet of flames would be shooting out of the back of the engine.

Yes, this was fun, but it was also a lot of responsibility for a kid who prior to going into the Marines had never held a job for more than 6 months. Here is the real point.

I thought I was pretty smart at that point, but about 6 months after I achieved this, and had used and put into practice this certification many times, I was assigned a new guy and was told to teach him how to do it. This is when I first learned how little I actually knew about what I was doing.

He kept asking me question after question about things I had never considered. At first, I thought it was funny, and then I realized that he was looking at it from a completely different perspective than I did. I needed to really understand it a lot better so I could explain it to him in a way that he could learn and understand it.

I swear, I learned more in the next 3 months training him than I had in the whole 2 years before. I know, I know, what does this have to do with article marketing? I am now ranked 15th of 642 other authors for the topic of article marketing in my favorite article directory. By the time you read this, I will be 14th.

I decided I wanted to know everything I could learn about article marketing. But I knew that if I wanted to really become an expert on the topic, I had to teach you about article marketing. I knew the best way to do that was to start to publish articles on the topic. Can you imagine how well you will know a topic after you write 40 articles about it? What about 100? I think you get the idea.

Article Marketing - Key Words? What Are They and How Do They Relate to Article Marketing? Part IV

In the previous articles you learned a lot about key words and how they are used as tools by people who are looking for information. Then we found out that just about everything on the internet is tracked. Because of this, we are able to learn more about what people are looking for and we can even see how many websites there are trying to supply information, products or services to the people that are looking.

Let's make up a scenario based on what we have learned and how it would be used in real life. This is just a fictitious example. Let's say I decided I wanted to promote an affiliate program for website hosting. I am just going to lay out for you what my train of thinking would be.

I do some key word research and I come up with 200 key words related to website hosting. After researching those words, I find 30 that aren't looked up the most, because all of the most searched words had too much competition. But I found 30 that are looked up regularly but don't have the huge numbers of suppliers with sites with those key words.

Now I do some research on those 30 words, and make sure I have plenty of good information and get a very strong understanding of the ins and outs of hosting. Then I write 3 articles for each key word, using the key word in the title of each article. I do this assuming that the hosting company that I have chosen to sign up as an affiliate for, has a very good product, and an excellent sales letter already provided for their affiliates (me).

Now here is the magic of article marketing. First, even if I knew a fair amount about my topic before, you can just imagine how much better I know the topic after I have written almost 100 articles. Second, I put a squeeze page in between my article readers and my hosting company.

How do I do this? I write a quick sales letter offering a free report on the ins and outs of choosing a web hosting company. This is easy, because I just wrote almost 100 articles. And now, I get the name and email address of everyone that clicks one of my links in my articles to get the free report before reading the sales letter of the hosting company.

Now you might be asking yourself, did I miss something? Is it really that easy? Why does this work? How do paying customers get to my affiliate link to buy web hosting? Next I will explain this to you from the customer's perspective because that is how you will see just how good it really does work.

Article Marketing - Key Words? What Are They And How Do They Relate To Article Marketing? Part V

Now you know what key words are and how they are used by people looking for information. You know that because of all the tracking and stats available on the Internet you can identify groups of people looking for specific information.

Then you learned that through writing key word content rich articles, you can get your name and offer in front of those potential customers. Or, maybe this is where you are a little fuzzy. That is why I am going to describe the process from the consumer's perspective.

In this scenario, my name is Bob and I want to see if I can make money on the Internet. I don't know much about the internet or how to do this, but I hear a lot of people are hitting it big and my boss is a real jerk.

I figure, that if I am going to do this, I am going to need a website. I know from my work place that a hosting company hosts our company web site. I also know that I don't want to spend a lot of money, so I decide to do a search for the key words, *cheap web hosting.*

On the first page I see a list of a bunch of paid ads, but in the regular listing, I see an article titled, *Cheap Web Hosting: Are you really saving money if you aren't getting what you need?" This article is about the 3rd or 4th in the list. I think, wow, that is a good question, so I click to read the article.

After I finish reading the article, I think wow that was kind of brief, but I have to admit I hadn't thought of that question before. Hey look, there is a link on the bottom that says for a full report on what to look for when selecting a hosting company click here.

I click here, and I see that this report is free. That's a no brainer, I want to make a good decision, and this report is right in my budget. So I sign up to get it, and after I click the confirmation link in the follow up email, I land on the sales page of a web hosting company and this looks like good info too. I think I will read this really quickly. Bang! You have found a way to help someone find what they are looking for.

No tricks, no lies, no cheating, just good old fashion hard work, kind of... The good news as the author of that article, it's not the end of it. That article and almost 100 more are still out there, still working, and still trying to make you money over and over and over. God Bless America.

Article Marketing - Key Words? What Are They and How Do They Relate to Article Marketing? Part I

All you have to do is write key word rich article content right? Sound so simple until you try to do it for the first time. That is not even taking into consideration where you might find these things anyway (key words that is). Not much chance you are going to know where to get something when you don't even really know what they are.

So what is a key word anyway? I am glad you asked. It is a word that is the key to narrowing the search for the specific data you are looking for. Let me try to explain. When you look at any topic, you find that there are certain words that are commonly grouped together, these are the words that are well know to people with expertise on this particular topic.

Let's say we had 5 articles in front of us, one on soccer, one on baseball, one on hockey, one on cooking, and the last one on computer repair.

Now what if I had all of these articles open in a way that I could do a word search through all the articles at the same time? In this case, I cannot see the titles, or if they are grouped in any way. And, I don't want to read every article to find what I am looking for. So what can I do?

Well, what you can do is think about a few words that are used under the topic of the one article I am looking for, and that would not be used by any of the others. Let's say computer repair for example. What are two words that are used in computer repair that are not used in the other topics?

How about the words *Windows Operating System*? If I do a word search for these words, the likelihood of me pulling up one of the articles on one of the sports topics is very low. This is called a key word search. It saves me from having to read all of the articles. I only have to go through the one that has the specific key words in it of *Windows Operating System.*

Now all you have to do is multiply this by billions of documents and millions of readers each with their own interests, and you have described the job of the search engines on the Internet. Did you know search engines keep track of what words people use to find information in the internet? Did you know that by looking at the number of times a certain key word is used for a search, you can measure the demand for that information?

Now you know what key words are, and with a little knowledge comes more questions. Come sign up for my ezine and learn more.

Article Marketing - Key Words? What Are They and How Do They Relate to Article Marketing? Part II

In the last article you learned what key words are and how you can find specific information about a topic on the Internet so you don't have to read through hundreds, even thousands of articles just to find what you are looking for. For a person searching for information who wants to save time and effort, key words are valuable tools.

Now we get to the next question, what does this have to do with article writing? This is still a little too multifaceted to answer in an article, so I am going to try and share another piece of the puzzle with you letting you know up front that these are topics you need to learn in layers in the beginning.

Let's start with one of the questions that we asked at the end of part one and that is, *Did you know that search engines keep track of what words people use to find information on the Internet?* Then I gave you a clue to that question by asking, *Did you know that by looking at the number of times a certain set of key words is used by people performing the searches you can measure the demand for that information?*

Let me give an example. If you have 25,000 people do a search for the key words *computer repair*, I think that it is pretty safe to say that lots of people on the Internet are interested in learning something about getting problems solved with their computers. Now they may be looking for information, they may be looking for an expert to ask questions, or they might be looking for places they can get their computers fixed.

Now you have to ask yourself from a business owners perspective, how does knowing that 25,000 searches were done for the key words, *computer repair*, help me, or why would this matter to me? Well, if you happen to be in the computer business and you were looking for a way to find more people with computer problems that you could resolve, you may have found them.

Now you have to start to ask questions like, how do I get the name of my company in front of these people? If you were really ahead of the game, you might even ask, *I wonder how many other people are trying to get access to these 25,000 people?*

Now you understand two sides of key words, one how you can use them to sort through information on the Internet, and how you can determine demand for information on the Internet.

Article Marketing - Key Words? What Are They and How Do They Relate to Article Marketing? Part III

In the last two articles you learned what key words are, what they are used for both from the perspective of a user or consumer (using key words to sort through data) and from the business owners perspective, (a way to identify groups of people with an interest in a specific topic).

In the last article I used the key words, *computer repair* as an example and said that this set of key words had been searched for 25,000 times in a month. Then we talked about how as a computer business owner, it is useful to know that information if you are looking for new customers.

Then, at the end of the article, I suggested that if you were a computer business owner you might ask how you would get your name in front of these potential customers. After that I asked a question that is an important part of understanding the potential of any business opportunity, and that is, how many other people are there trying to get their name in front of these potential customers?

You see, to fully understand the potential of an opportunity, not only do you have to know how many people might be interested in a particular product or service, but you have to know how much competition there is trying to supply that group with what they are looking for. In academia, they call this the law of supply and demand.

Let's look at the potential from two different perspectives to help you learn how you can determine the potential of an opportunity for yourself. But first you have to know about another number that is tracked on the internet. That is how many websites there are that provide information for a key word or key word set.

For example, if I did a search right now, try this for yourself if you like, on Google for the key words, *computer repair*, I see that Google says there are 9 million 620 thousand results for that search. Suddenly the 25,000 searches for the key words *computer repair* doesn't seem to be that large of a number. What does that tell us? It tells us that there is a lot of competition for people looking for information about computer problems.

Do you think it is going to be easy to make a lot of money fixing computers? In this example, it doesn't look like it. Not only are you going to have to spend a lot of money to stand out on the Internet to get your company noticed, but you will have to provide great service at a very competitive price to get your share and keep any of that business.

Just to contrast it, what if there were only 5,000 results total? Now, you have found an opportunity. Now back to the previous question, and that is how you are going to get the name of your company in front of these 25,000 potential customers. This is where the fun begins, because this is where article marketing ties all of these pieces together. Again, assuming from the research you did, you found this to be an opportunity you wanted to pursue.

Article Marketing - Sometimes the Simplest Strategies Produce the Greatest Results - Here's One

For most of us, we have had to do relatively little writing in our lives. I think that most undergrad programs require one, maybe two writing courses to get your degree. In my writing classes, we had to write 5 papers in the first one, and three in the second. I don't know about you, but for me to write a paper use to mean I had to invest a major effort to do so.

Now I admit that I am not normal, because I was unwilling to settle for any grade less than an *A.* The amount of effort from C to B is about double, but from B to A, I believe is at least double the effort again. So what does all this have to do with article marketing? We are just about there.

The bottom line is for most people to write something they expect to get a grade on, or published is a major effort. As a side note, the funny thing is, once you develop this skill, you can get greater results with much less effort. Turns out, for most people, there is only one way to get better, that is to start to write a lot.

So what is the point of all this seemingly obvious commentary? Well, when people feel like they have had to really invest a part of themselves into something, they have a tendency to make it very personal: this makes it hard to gear-up to do it again, it makes it hard to take constructive feedback, and it has a tendency to make ones confidence in their ability to do something low.

In article marketing, you have to do just the opposite. You need to get to a point, where you can write one article after another and take whatever feedback comes so you can consistently publish day in and day out. You need to have been successfully published enough times that you know within 30 minutes you could write an article that is ready to publish.

Sometimes your emotional attachment to something can be changed just by changing its name, what you call it. I think this is where the term, *article agents* comes from. Rather than thinking about what it takes for you to write an article, you focus on trying to get as many *article agents* out in the field selling for you as possible.

Then you don't feel like every article has to be able to win some type of writing prize, you can hammer out a few hundred words on a topic, proof it, have it proofed, and try to get it published, and then on to the next until you have 10 then 30 then 50 then 100 and so on. You do this until you start to realize the desired result, a large amount of targeted traffic to your site, blog, ezines or sales letter. Simple as that.

Article Marketing - It Can Be Like a Snowball Gaining Size and Momentum With Every Article You Write

One might ask the question, what is more important genius or quantity? If you think genius, than you are probably still focused on the wrong thing, your ego. In article marketing, ego kills.
The facts are that 86% of people, who publish articles at ezine articles, never publish 10 or more articles. Why, because they did not see the results they expected after 3 or 6 or even 8 articles.

I can only tell you from my own experience that when I built my first website, I was told that I had to write 30 articles to start with. I think I got to 26 or 27, and then I took a very long break from writing. I was happy with my results, but felt like the effort was significant. Not something I could do every day.

For the year after writing those 27 articles, I probably submitted about 10 articles. This is not a significant effort. Let me also say that I had not seen the results I had hoped to have seen up to this point either. You keep hearing it over and over again though, *You have to publish articles.*

Finally I read an article in the, *Internet Marketing Dirt,*by Matt Bacak, that said that you should be able to write an article in 10 minutes. No, really, he said that you should be able to write 6 to 10 articles in an hour. So, I decided to write 5 in a row as fast as I could. The first two, took well over an hour each, but the next three, were all written in less than an hour each.

I now have over 30 more articles written and published, 10 of which, I did in two days, and I have the confidence that I can write an article in 30 minutes. Let me preface that with, I have to be writing article sets and I have to be writing about something I have had at least one hour audio training on.
Now that I am shooting for 50 articles, what do I have to offer from my experience so far? Well, as my confidence in my own writing grows, I now know I have one thing that I can do anytime and my effort will build on my previous effort which is going to grow exponentially (meaning it will continue to produce targeted traffic exponentially). And, I have confidence that I could write about more topics, and even create products of my own.

For example, right now you can go sign up for my ezine, soon you will have a 10 page pdf on article marketing that I will have written myself as an incentive to sign up for my ezine. Like I said the work just keeps building momentum.

Article Marketing - Here Is a Look at the Simple Math It Takes to Make a Good Living

Everybody has heard the 80/20 rule. One example of this is 80% of the work is done by 20% of the people. Now these have never been considered hard and fast numbers, I think that whoever originally came up with the rule probably used a little poetic license with their figures. It probably wasn't exactly 80% or 20% that was as important as the illustration that a few have always out preformed the majority.

I was also taught a couple of similar rules in the US Marines. One for example is the 10% rule. What that refers to is the fact that 10% of any group of people is always going to be the dirty birds. They're hard to work with, hard to motivate and can't be counted on.

I also learned in the Marines that the top 20% in any field almost never suffer long term unemployment and always are the top wage earners in their industries. Because of this, I have often thought about whether or not I am striving to be in the top 20% of my field. Sometimes, I have done better at this than other times.

It turns out that to be in business for yourself, requires that you be better than the top 20% just to survive. Actually, you have to be in the top 5% if you want to make it 5 years or more. What does all this have to do with article marketing?

One directory has published its statistics that only 14% of its authors ever write more than 10 articles. It doesn't say, but I'll bet only about half of those make a good living from the results of the articles they write. If you are willing to accept that there is no way to get a more targeted prospect for your website, blog, or ezine, then it is just a matter of simple math for you to be able to make a great living online.

Make your goal to get good at writing articles. Buy books, listen to audios, find people that can help you by offering to edit your work, so you can learn and get better, and then you will start to make money on the Internet, it's that simple.

Article Marketing - Where I Once Wrote One Article, I Now Write Five - You Can Do It Too

I have to say, that for me, learning the concept of article sets has greatly increased not only the number of articles that I publish, but it has also freed me to write more on one topic therefore letting me utilize my focus for more productive results. Instead of writing one article after I get focused, I can write 2 or 3 or more getting more out of the effort.

It may seem obvious after what I just wrote, but I am still going to explain what article sets are. Article sets are when you write a set of articles all at once. This can be where you split a longer article into multiple articles. Or this can be where you write on one topic from several different vantage points, or you may write about one topic, and the only thing you change is the format that you write in.

Let me give a quick example of each. For me, when I get really into the different aspects or give a lot of context to my topics, it is easy for my articles to get very long. I use to just publish these this way, even though I know that they were longer than the average attention span of most article readers.

Now, I can cut that article up into two or three parts, and call them part 1, part 2 and part 3 and each one gets indexed separately by the search engines and all are more likely to get read, even if not at the same time.

When I talk about writing from different vantage points, what I mean is that I may give a little depth on one part of a topic, and just mention how it fits into other parts. Then I will write another article, and will focus on giving more information on one of the points I just mentioned, and then just make a brief mention of the topic I went into depth on in the previous article.

The last method that I mentioned above is writing about the same thing in different formats. I have not really done this yet, but how it was explained to me was that I might write about 7 ways to do something and put the 7 things in built points. Then write an article about the exact same thing, but this time write as if I were explaining it in a conversation to a student.

Using any of these methods, you can quickly produce several articles when before, I would have been lucky to finish one in the same amount of time.

Article Marketing: A Secret That Gets a Few Disproportionately Large Amounts of Targeted Traffic

Don’t we all wish we could fall out of an apple truck and get rich? My personal favorite is finding the magic pill. This new software or this next program and *bam* I am going to be skating down easy street. And don’t you love the word *secret*? When they tell you this little known secret, you will be in the big time.

Well it turns out in article marketing there is a little known secret, but I like to call it the dirty little secret, because it actually works in accordance with a universal principal. You reap what you sow, is the principle. You see, only 14% of authors on one major directory ever write more than 10 articles.

Now that might actually work if you create a new language that uses the English alphabet or if you were writing about a niche that has not yet been found by anyone. But for the rest of us, we need to write more articles.

According to one major directory, you are not even in the game until you have written 100 articles. They go on to say that you have to get to the 250 mark to start to see critical mass. Why is this a secret? Well, it’s not really, but it sure seems like one since so few people seem to be doing it.

This is why I call it my dirty little secret. Most programs out there are still trying to sell the majority of us on some magic pill. They are afraid that if they told most of us the truth, we wouldn’t get caught up in the hype, and their sales would suffer. The truth is if you start working hard, you begin to see the magic. Reminds me of a saying my stepfather use to say all the time, *The harder I work, the luckier I get.*

I will say that article marketing is a sound strategy, and if you really want to drive larger amounts of targeted traffic to your website, blog or to subscribe to your ezine, you will want to get excited about writing articles and getting them published in the article directories on the Internet.
