Article Marketing Is Like Hiring A Salesman? How Can That Be? Part II Of III

Here is one parallel between hiring salesmen and writing and publishing an article that not only rings true, but is a good lesson.

Let's say you hire a salesman and you send him out in the field without a business card and only two hours training on your company and product. The reason you do this, is because you don't have any more time to spend with him at first, and you hired him because he seemed to be just the right kind of guy, but you hadn't really put together a plan for how you were going to help this guy be as effective as possible.

You might ask yourself, is it better to have let him go home for a day or two and do nothing while you figure all this out? I say, *No.* Here is where it is similar to starting to write articles.

Should you wait until you know everything before you start to submit and publish articles with directories? Again, I say, *No.*

You see, as you learn more and get better; you can go back and make adjustments to your articles. This is the same with working with a sales rep. If after he has been out in the field for a week, you have lunch with one of your friends and he tells you about how he had these great business cards put together and printed for his sales reps and the impact was their sales went up and the number of calls into the office started to increase.

There is no reason you couldn't go back to your articles after you learned more about how to put together a resource box and make adjustments and improve your resource boxes. You will probably find that you get more visits to your website and even more sales.

The point is that you don't have to wait until you are perfect to start. When you learn more about writing better titles, go back through your articles and see if you can't improve your titles. Just like you can improve the knowledge and effectiveness of your sales rep, you can do the same with your articles.

A call to action in your resource box is an important way to get more people to click the links. People want to know what to do next, and you can help them by making the next step very clear. Want to learn more about how to make your resource boxes more effective? Come sign up for my ezine.
