Are you following your guide to internet marketing?

Do you even have a guide to internet marketing? For me, one of my main guides is Matt Bacak’s monthly news letter, which I receive via mail, a hard copy, every month. Matt is a local millionaire in the Atlanta metro area whose promotion techniques are well proven, and always being refined. He told me once that the reason he shares so much, is because it keeps raising the bar and then he is forced to get better. So with this great advisor, and this great guide, what seems to be the problem?

Here is my problem. I think I have a pretty strong handle on what I need to be doing to successfully promote my business and my website. Lately I have been putting a lot of emphasis on article marketing. The strategy is one where you research keywords that are being searched for between 1000 to 10,000 times per month. But the number of sites that provide results for those keywords is lower.

An example is the key word phrase, “guide to internet marketing.” If you look it up on Wordtracker, you will see that it was searched for 1397 times. Then, if you do a search on Google, you will see that there are only 1163 sites that have content for that keyword phrase. They key is to go to ezine directories, and article directory with a PR (Page Rank) of 5 or higher and write and publish articles that include that keyword phrase in the title and body of the text. If you like, you can always see if your favorite ezine is publishing articles too.

I have been told that because of the high popularity of video and web 2.0 sites, that if you use this technique and use the keywords in the description of your video, this will also be a great way to get recognized by the search engines and drive more traffic to your site. Following this advice, I was able to exert a little discipline this weekend and signed up for and posted my profile in 40 social networks.

Again, you might ask, “What is the problem?” The problem can be summed up in one word, “Perfection.” That’s right, “Perfection.” Why is that a problem? Simple, it keeps me from finishing anything. Let’s take these social networks for example. All I have to do is create video, and post it on all of these sites with the keywords that I have a chance of getting the most attention from in the description, and Walla, lots of traffic. I even have a very nice Sony HD video camera. “I don’t see the problem.” You say. Well, I can’t seem to get the lighting right, and I don’t like the way I look around when I am trying to think of what to say. I am not sure if what I am saying is complete enough for anyone to understand.

See, “Perfection.” I can’t get anything done. So what is the cure? The cure is publish, publish, publish. It will get better. The bottom line is that you have to put something out there. Even if it is the dumbest thing that anyone has ever seen, read, or heard, now you have something to improve upon. And, improve upon it you will. So, here is my commitment, by this time tomorrow, I am going to have some video posted on all of these new sites that I have signed up for. Remember, no matter how bad it is, once you get it out there, you can work on making it better. There is only one place to go from the bottom.
